Update >> This is now official
Over the last week or so there have been a number of reports of players and coaches not getting paid from their respective Arena League teams, and a total of four teams have already thrown in the towel on the season, with the Minnesota Myth becoming the latest within the last 24 hours.
It's clear that the reboot of the fan-favorite Arena League is on the rocks already and exploring some drastic options to save the league that once had plans to televise this season's games on NFL Network.
According to numerous reports, the league is exploring a change of leadership with former Rams and Titans head coach Jeff Fisher as the man many want to see take the reigns.
One report from Anthony Carter, who covers the league for Arena Insider, shares that Lee Hutton III has been ousted in a unanimous vote, and Fisher is being installed as the interim commissioner.
Fisher is a part owner of the AFL's Nashville Katz (yes, that's with a "K" AND a "Z"), and had a 17-year run leading the Tennessee Titans from 1994-2010, leading them to the franchise's only Super Bowl and a 142-120 record overall.
In 2012 Fisher took over the Rams, where he spent five seasons and led the team during the transition back to Los Angeles. He lasted 13 games in LA before being fired after a 4-9 start.
The rest of his tenure with the Rams ended in near .500 finishes each season, with a 7-8 first season, two 7-9 seasons with a 6-10 finish sandwiched between them. He missed the playoffs in each of his seasons in LA.
Most recently, Fisher served as the head coach of the Michigan Panthers of the USFL in 2022, where he led the team to a 2-8 mark.
