TCU adds former Texas linebacker to Horned Frogs' defensive support staff
This whole TCU-Texas connection continues to be quite interesting.
Luke Brockermeyer, who played five years at the University of Texas and nabbed 2021 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors along the way, now is on staff at rival TCU in Sonny Dykes' resurgent program.
Brockermeyer is aboard with the Horned Frogs as a defensive graduate assistant, having started at TCU within the past few weeks.
It was just last year that former TCU head coach Gary Patterson joined the University of Texas staff of Steve Sarkisian as a special assistant for the Longhorns in Brockermeyer's final season in the program.
The Brockermeyer family, of course, runs deep in its history with the Longhorns; Luke's father, Blake, was an All-America offensive lineman at Texas in the 1990s, and his grandfather, Kae, was an offensive lineman for the Horns in the 1950s.
Additionally, Luke is reunited at TCU with his brother, Tommy, a former consensus, five-star prep All-America recruit who originally signed with Nick Saban's Alabama Crimson Tide. Tommy Brockermeyer transferred to TCU after the 2022 season. James Brockermeyer remains on the Tide's roster as a redshirt-sophomore.
The Horned Frogs are coming off a breakthrough first season under Dykes, who garnered numerous coaching honors upon leading TCU to the College Football Playoff championship game against repeat champion Georgia in Dykes's first season atop the Fort Worth, Texas, program.
TCU is set to open its 2023 campaign Sept. 2 with an intriguing intersectional clash at home against Colorado -- which is led by first-year head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, aka 'Coach Prime.'
