It definitely feels as if the golden age of social media is behind us, but every so often the sun peeks through the clouds. Pun intended.
It started Monday, when TCU sent out this fairly innocuous tweet. In trying to promote their location and their head coach, the Horned Frogs found a punny way to do both.
Little did we know, that kicked off the Great Meteorological Debate of 2025.
Elsewhere, other programs hopped in on the fun.
The format even left College Football Twitter.
But wait! There are more layers to this onion still.
It turns out Arizona and Arizona State might have been embellishing their numbers of sunny days. Who could ever imagine such a thing? According to PhD student Hunter Schuler, TCU arrived at its number of 229 by counting "clear" and "partly cloudy" days as "sunny." Scandalous!
Even when using that, ahem, questionable methodology, TCU's number was still generally accurate. Arizona and Arizona State, though?
What are you going to tell me next, Dr. Schuler? That Conway, Ark., only has 29 roundabouts?
On second thought, don't. If the true number of roundabouts in the home of the University of Central Arkansas is anything other than 35, I'd prefer not to know.
