TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte announced today that head coach Gary Patterson has signed a contract extension taking him through 2022. The extension adds two years to his previous deal.
"Gary Patterson is synonymous with TCU and Forth Worth," Del Conte noted in the school's statement. "His value to our community goes beyond the football field. It's obviously a great day for our Horned Frogs family when coach Patterson reiterates that TCU and Forth Worth are his home!"
With 143 wins under his belt at TCU heading into the 2016 campaign, Patterson is the school's all time winningest coach and enters his 16th season as head coach in Forth Worth. Patterson has a winning percentage of over 75%, ranking him fifth among active coaches in college football, and his 16 years leading the program make him the third longest tenured coach in the country.
There's no arguing that Gary Patterson is the face of TCU football, and the school recently put up a statue in his honor outside the stadium. It's great to see Gary ink an extension keeping him in Fort Worth another few years.
