Terry Bowden will not return at ULM, the program announced Sunday.
"After a thorough review, we have decided to make a change in the leadership of ULM football," AD John Hartwell said. "I want to thank Coach Terry Bowden for all he has done over the last three years for our football program and our university."Bowden went 10-26 in his three seasons at the school, including a 2-10 mark this season.
This season marked the 40th anniversary of Bowden's first head coaching position, at Salem University in West Virginia. In between, he served as the head coach at four different institutions, highlighted by an undefeated season at Auburn in 1993. He also took North Alabama to the Division II quarterfinals in 2009 and won the Potato Bowl at Akron in 2015.
ULM is a program that has continually struggled to find its footing at the FBS level. The Warhawks have one all-time bowl appearance, a 45-14 loss to Ohio in the 2012 Independence Bowl.
