One of the best storylines of the college football season was 35-year old, first-time head coach GJ Kinne leading Texas State to new heights.
Leading the Bobcats to their first ever bowl game and a 7-5 season has reportedly led to a new deal for the rising star.
Pete Thamel shares this morning that Kinne and Texas State have agreed to a new five-year deal taking him through 2028.
Keff Ciardello adds that Kinne will be one of the highest paid coaches in the Sun Belt with the new deal, paying him $ million a year for five years. Incentives include bonuses for eight-plus win seasons and conference championships.
The special season for the Bobcats include the 17th ranked scoring offense in college football, after ranking 111th last season in the same metric. Kinne led an offense that eclipsed the 50-point mark three times last year.
Included in their seven wins during the 2023 season was a 42-31 win over Baylor.
