The latest renderings of Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium are impressive

This is how Arizona State's Sun Devil Stadium looks at the moment:

Arizona State is in the second of three phases in a quarter-billion project that was announced back in 2012. The south end zone was renovated before last season, and the west side (shown above) will be rebuilt in time for the Sun Devils' Sept. 3 opener with Northern Arizona.

Below is how the finished product will look in 2017.

We'll stop here to note the slogan on the back of the artificial dude in gold at the center of the rendering.

While the days of hosting Super Bowls, college national championships and Fiesta Bowls are long gone, the quarter-billion project will send the 57-year-old Sun Devil Stadium looking better than ever heading into its next stage of life.
