Thirty of the 32 first round picks were multi-sport athletes in high school

The first round of the NFL Draft has come and gone and the results are in and they're persuasive: NFL teams prefer multi-sport athletes.

Thirty of the 32 selections in last night's first round played multiple sports in high school. Beyond that, nearly half (14) played three sports as preps.

According to data compiled by Tracking Football, 22 of the 32 first-round selections ran track in high school in addition to playing football. The next most popular sport was basketball, with 19 participants. Derek Barnett and Patrick Mahomes played baseball (Mahomes also played basketball) and Garett Boles played lacrosse. Only No. 21 pick Jarrad Davis and No. 32 pick Ryan Ramczyk exclusively played football.
