This Oklahoma high school has facilities nicer than most colleges (Bixby Oklahoma)

Here at The Scoop we've previously covered the case of Collin County, Texas. Once a farming community near a population center, the county grew gradually and then, near the turn of the century, exponentially. The area's population and economy exploded, and the evidence was found in its high school football facilities.

Collin County hasn't slowed down, but now it's time to turn our attention north.

Until somewhat recently, you'd probably only heard of Bixby, Okla., if you were from Bixby, Okla. Located in the southeast corner of the Tulsa metro area, census data showed the town was home to roughly 1,250 people in 1920, and was around 1,700 by 1960 -- a big jump percentage wise, but in real numbers the town added around a dozen residents a year. By 2000, Bixby had grown to 13,000 and change, and two decades later the population had more than doubled to nearly 29,000. The town's Wikipedia page notes that its per capita income is "the highest in the Tulsa metropolitan area" and "50 percent higher than the state average."

By now you know where this is going.

Bixby's wealth has funneled into its high school football program, as evidenced by the trophies that have piled up and the facilities that produce them.

The Spartans have won 10 state championships, which places them in a modest 4-way tie for eighth place in the history of Oklahoma high school football -- except those 10 state championships have all been won in the last 11 seasons. Bixby's first crown came in 2014, winners of the Class 6A Division II bracket, the state's second-largest classification. They repeated in 2015 and '16, lost by a touchdown in the state championship in 2017, and haven't dropped a playoff game since. Bixby moved into 6A-DI in 2022 and hasn't slowed down.

With an enrollment just shy of 2,300, Bixby regularly defeats schools with 1,000 or more students.

How do they do it? Start here.

Is an 8,500-square foot weight rom and a locker room with 150 Longhorn lockers how you go 32-1 in playoff games over an 11-year period, or is it the end result of going 32-1 in playoff games over an 11-year period? Is it the chicken or the egg?

How about this? It's a chicken that lays golden, football-shaped eggs each December.
