This week in High School football - Which states are playing?

As of this week, high school football is being played in 26 states. In addition to the 26 playing, another 6 plan to begin play later this Fall. 

This week, Michigan is the only state to join the states that are already playing, while Colorado decided that it will begin later this fall. 

States that have started:

  • Alabama
  • Alaska 
  • Arkansas 
  • Florida 
  • Georgia 
  • Indiana 
  • Idaho 
  • Iowa 
  • Kansas 
  • Kentucky
  • Montana 
  • Michigan*
  • Missouri 
  • Mississippi
  • Nebraska 
  • New Hampshire
  • North Dakota 
  • Ohio 
  • Oklahoma 
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Dakota 
  • Tennessee 
  • Texas 
  • Utah
  • West Virginia 
  • Wyoming

*Starts Friday

In addition to those above, the 6 states below plan to play this Fall.

18 states, and the District of Columbia, currently are not planning to allow high school football until 2021.

Over 3,500 high school football games will be played across the country over the next three days.
