It's been a good year for Tony Gibson.
West Virginia put together a 10-2 regular season, the program's best since 2007, and his defense was a major part of that. The Mountaineers ranked in the top three in the Big 12 in scoring defense, total defense and rushing defense while leading the league in pass efficiency defense and takeaways -- two metrics that are key to survival in that conference.
But enough about that. This post isn't about Gibson's on-field bona fides, it's about what he did for his hometown of Van, W.Va.
That's good stuff from West Virginia's defensive coordinator.
