Trent Dilfer boldly dares Power 5 coaches to try to raid his roster (UAB)

Go ahead and put this interview down as the best one of the summer, and a moment that potential UAB recruits are going to bookmark.

While on with the Rick and Bubba show, first-year head coach Trent Dilfer dared Power Five coaches to come and try to poach guys on his roster.

"By the way, try to come and take my guys," Dilfer states.

"I dare you Power Fives. I've got a pretty big platform that I can step on, and if I find you in my kids DMs, or if I find you're talking to high school coaches about my kids...if you're in my roster, I am going to call your ass out."

"I am going to say it by name, to the biggest voices in television today and it's going to make GameDay and it's going to make SportsCenter, because by the way, those guys that are on SportsCenter are still my friends."

"So go ahead...I dare you to jump into my roster."

Dilfer would go on to share that he asked his new colleagues in The American Athletic Conference why they haven't been willing to name names.

That's when things got even more interesting.

"I said, why wouldn't you guys have the you-know-whats to stand up and say 'get out of my roster!' Here's why...it's because YOU want THEIR job. But I want THIS job. I don't want a Power Five job. I want this job. I want to live in Birmingham. I want to live downtown. I want to go see my grandson in Nashville."

"I don't want that other job, so I don't care if you blackball me. I want this job. I want the city of Birmingham to say 'That's our city and that's our coach!"
