UMass elevates staffer to fill offensive vacancy (Matt Zanellato)

Don Brown has decided to elevate a support staff member to fill his vacant receivers job at UMass.

Matt Zanellato, who spent last season as an offensive analyst for offensive coordinator Steve Casula, has been promoted to wide receivers coach.

Ryan Partridge, a former standout California high school coach, coached the team's receivers last year and served as the recruiting coordinator for the program.

Sources tell FootballScoop Patridge has accepted a great opportunity for his family at the high school level as an assistant athletic director and offensive coordinator at Cardinal Newman HS (West Palm Beach, FL).

Before joining the UMass staff back in January of 2022, Zanellato, a former Penn State four-year letterman, was the receivers coach at Saginaw Valley State (D-II - MI), where he helped develop three All-GLIAC receivers in 2021 for the first time in the program's rich history.

He also previously coached the receivers at Lock Haven (D-II - PA) and was a special teams quality control analyst at Western Michigan in 2017.

The on-field opportunity will mark his second time working alongside Casula, as the two previously spent time on the same offensive staff at Davenport (D-II - MI) during their inaugural football season as a startup program in 2016.
