A year after joining the staff as its wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator, Blake Crandall has climbed another level in his young career.
Texas Permian Basin coach Kris McCullough has promoted Crandall to the role of co-offensive coordinator who will serve alongside Kenny Hrncir who will call the offense this season.
UTPB is coming off a breakthrough season in which it won 10 games and advanced into the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
The offense was a massive component of that success as the unit averaged more than 42 points per game.
Seven different players notched double-digit receptions on the season, and Crandall proteges Deon Cook, Jeremiah Cooley and Ben Patterson each eclipsed more than 500 receiving yards. The trio combined for 18 touchdowns.
Crandall previously coached running backs at East Central University; he's also logged coaching stops at Delta State and Oklahoma Panhandle State.
UTPB will seek to build on last season's momentum when it opens the 2024 season Aug. 31 at home against Western New Mexico, a Lone Star Conference foe.
