The USC defense has undergone a major overhaul this off season following a disappointing 8-5 season.
Alex Grinch and the program a parted ways shortly after the season and D'Anton Lynn, who had led a defensive resurgence at cross-town rival UCLA, was poached from Chip Kelly's staff to be the new Trojans defensive coordinator.
Today, Lincoln Riley announced the final piece of the defensive rebuild in LA, and, like Lynn, he didn't have to look far for this piece either.
Eric Henderson, who most recently served as the defensive line coach / run game coordinator for the LA Rams, has been named co-defensive coordinator / defensive line coach / run game coordinator on staff.
Henderson brings a Super Bowl ring with him to the staff, and a reputation as developing one of best run defenses and pressure teams in the league year after year.
Before joining the Rams, Henderson spent two seasons with the Chargers and has prior college experience in 2016 working at UTSA as their defensive line in additions to stops at Oklahoma State, and Georgia Military College (JC).
He joins a revamped defensive staff composed of Lynn, former NDSU head coach Matt Entz (assistant HC for defense / LBs), former Houston defensive coordinator Doug Belk (secondary), and Shaun Nua (DEs).
