With Saturday's opener against North Texas approaching, Texas announced Wednesday it was still 9,000 tickets short of a sell out.
A full sell out has become rare since Texas expanded Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to 101,000-plus in 2009. A 15-11 home record over a four-year stretch tends to thin out the demand. But the excitement and intrigue a new coaching staff brings, plus the game broadcast placed exclusively on the still-limited Longhorn Network, figured to combine to fill out DKR. Not quite.
At his weekly media availability, Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford admonished the Longhorn faithful in a way only he can.

Additional context says Bedford was being less than serious throughout his answer, but either way this is good stuff.
