Video: An ejected Texas HS player re-entered the game to blindside official (Updated)

A shocking turn of events at a high school game in Texas tonight began with a player being ejected, and may end with criminal charges.

The string of events seemed to have begun when an Edinburg HS (TX) player was ejected from the game. Some video shows the ejected player being escorted off the field by some coaches. Once there he roams the sidelines for a few seconds before storming back onto the field and charging the official.

The video below catches the official ejection, and also catches the player coming back into the view of the camera charging, and flattening the official. The head official stays on the ground for quite some time, according to those in attendance.

Watching this, it's hard not to flash back to the incident between a player and official in San Antonio a few years ago at San Antonio Jay HS, but that incident involved directions from a coach. This incident seems to be all on the player.

See the video below.

Longer video here showing how this unfolded. Just terrible.

Update: The school district has pulled Edinburg from the playoffs.
