Hal Mumme is the God Father of the Air Raid and his decades as a head coach, playcaller, and innovator have spawned no shortage of legendary stories.
Well, after Sunday you can add another feather in the legendary cap of Hal Mumme.
As Bob Stoops' offensive coordinator with the Dallas Renegades, Mumme was involved in an ugly sideline collision with his own running back, Cameron Artis-Payne, during the second quarter of their XFL match up with the Houston Roughnecks.
The video below shows Mumme turning his back to brace for the collision, but he couldn't manage to get out the way. You can see him get up and soldier on without a limp right afterwards.
Tonight, the Renegades announced that Mumme actually suffered a broken leg in the collision. But like a true legend, Mumme finished the game calling plays.
When the team plays on Saturday this week against New York, Mumme will call plays from the safety of the press box.
