Video: Here's some motivation to share with your undersized players

Edelman

Regardless of the level you coach, every program has undersized players on their roster. At the high school level (and many small college programs) in particular, you've got to find a way to maximize that talent if you're going to be successful.

Enter the story of Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman.

Entering the NFL draft out of Kent State, Julian Edelman was a longshot to even get drafted. Although he broke the school record for total offense in a single season, Edelman stood at just 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed in at around 190 pounds and had no natural position in eyes of NFL scouts.

The Patriots drafted him in the 7th round of the 2009 draft, and while his first few seasons in the league were marred by injuries, Edelman is now a contributing receiver (90+ catches the past two seasons) for a Super Bowl Champion franchise.

If you happen to see an undersized player or two roaming the halls between classes today, invite them to your room to watch this quick motivational video where Edelman reads off his NFL post-draft report written by scouting "experts", every word of which he has emphatically proven wrong.
