Ever since Larry Fedora left Southern Miss on the heels of a 12 win season, the Golden Eagles, and particularly the defense, once known affectionately known as "The Nasty Bunch", has struggled, after winning no games under Ellis Johnson, Todd Monken's turn around looks like it started to take root last season.
Against UAB in the season finale, it appeared that Monken had the team fully bought in to the new vision for the program as they blew out the Blazers 62-27, surpassing their point total of the past four games combined. The staff has looked to carry that momentum into the 2014 season, and is aiming to restore the name, history, and nastiness of the defense to the days they were known as "The Nasty Bunch".
The video is a great look at how the culture has started to change in Hattiesburg as guys have once again found their edge under Monken and his staff. Great job of mixing in some of the glory days of the program as well.
