For those of us involved in coaching, there are phone calls that we will never forget. For most us, it’s that call about your first head coaching opportunity. For a select few, it’s a call about heading to a Hall of Fame.

For players, that call most only dream about is the NFL Draft call.

One of the many things that makes the NFL Draft so special, especially the first night of it, is the genuine reactions from players who have worked so hard for the moment to hear their name called. It’s northing short of moving.

Last night, one of those moments belonged to Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins, who won the Nagurski and Bednarik awards last season after an impressive season. Collins was selected by Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals organization with the 16th pick of the first round.

The phone call that was captured between Collins and the Cardinals front office is awesome.

You can hear the excitement and emotion in his voice, and in the background his family is going crazy.

Some of my personal favorite lines from Collins on the call include:

“Full speed. We’re going to kill everybody.”

“We’re going to get a Super Bowl ring on our finger that a f-in show dog won’t be able to jump over.”

Have a listen.
