Most coaches will read that headline - "I only want you to commit two times. That's it." - and think it sounds crazy.
That's how Vols wide receivers coach David Johnson starts out his address to Vols players as the trend of assistant coaches addressing the team continued for Jeremy Pruitt's squad. As wild as it may initially seem, hear the man out.
"My word of the day is commitment. I only want you to commit twice. That's it. When you feel like it, and when you don't."
"When you feel like it, and when you don't," Johnson says again to drive home his point further. "When you're having a good day, we want you committed. When you're not having a good day, we want you committed. If you can do that, and if you can fall in love with improvement, you're going to be alright. But you must be committed."
Johnson goes on to share his own personal story about commitment when he got his start in the coaching profession. Check out the video for that story and more.
