Look at some of West Virginia's biggest games in their recent history, and you'll notice a common theme; they're almost always considered underdogs. That theme continued in the season opener this past Saturday when the Mountaineers, coming off a disappointing 4-8 season, faced off against Alabama.
In the months leading up to the game, numerous media personalities weighed in with strong beliefs that the Crimson Tide would absolutely dominate, so it's only fitting that WVU video wizard DougityDog took that footage and used it as motivation in the pregame video that the team watched.
The video also features footage from other games (Georgia, Clemson, and Oklahoma) where, despite the overwhelming number of doubters, they went on to win the game, often in rather convincing fashion (I'm looking at that 70-33 Orange Bowl game in particular, Clemson).
Towards the end of the clip (which may be the best part), former Mountaineers now playing in the NFL like Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin share a brief motivational message for the team.
Despite giving the Tide all they could handle (and then some) WVU fell 33-23 on Saturday night.
