Watch Portland State players go nuts when they learn their coach has a new five-year contract (mark rountree)

A couple years ago, Sports Illustrated writer Richard Deitsch started something of a public art project. He asked his then 84,000 Twitter followers if they had a photograph of the happiest moment of their lives. Those who did sent them to him, and he shared them with the world at large. Most people loved it.

Well, Bruce Barnum has something that can top that.

After a 66-7 thumping of FBS North Texas, Barnum is off to a 4-1 start (2-0 vs. FBS teams; the Vikings beat Washington State to open the season) to what was just supposed to be an interim season. Portland State AD Mark Rountree was so impressed with Barnum's work he decided to offer Barnum a five-year contract.

When Rountree informed the football team Wednesday morning, the athletics department wisely decided to film it.

To have the dream of your first head coaching job come true in the form of a public affirmation from your boss in front of your cheering players? It simply doesn't get much better than that for a coach. And to get it on video? What a gift.
