West Georgia finds new head coach (FCS)

West Georgia Athletics Director Jason Carmichael has interviewed candidates throughout college football in recent weeks as Carmichael has sought new leadership for the UWG program as it transitions from NCAA Division II to Football Championship Subdivision.

Carmichael and the Wolves have their new man.

Mercer defensive coordinator Joel Taylor, who's guided the Bears defense the past four seasons and also coordinated the defense at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2019, will be the Wolves' new head coach.

A former all-conference defensive back in his college career at South Carolina State, Taylor also coached at The Citadel for five seasons, climbing to serve as the Bulldogs' defensive passing game coordinator.

Taylor began his coaching career with a four-year run in the secondary at his alma mater.
