Sean Spence spent a few seasons in the NFL following a solid career flying around as a linebacker for Miami, and now appears set to start his coaching journey.
Matt Freeman shares that Lance Taylor is adding Spence to their support staff as a special teams analyst.
Spence is a former third-round NFL Draft Pick out of Miami, who went on to play six seasons in the NFL with three different teams.
After being drafted by the Steelers, Spence suffered a serious knee injury in his first season in the league, battled his way back, and played a significant role for the Steelers defense that helped them finish 11-5 and champions of the AFC North.
After a few seasons in Pittsburgh, Spence spent one season each with the Titans and Colts before signing a one year deal to return to the Steelers in 2017 following the unfortunate career-ending injury to Ryan Shazier.
The job in Kalamazoo marks the a start in college coaching for the former high school standout, who played on a stacked Miami Northwestern HS (FL) team alongside Lavonte Davis, Jacory Harris, Tommy Streeter, Brandon Washington and others.
He will work alongside former 'Canes player in Jeff Popovich, who serves as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator under Taylor.
