Even at the Power 5 level, the typical college football player is closer to the end of his playing career than the beginning on his first day of training camp of his freshman year.
Contrary to his own career as a two-sport professional athlete, Deion Sanders has consistently reminded his players that college football is a vehicle for them to secure their future, either via ball or books, as this social media clip shows.
"I don't think you understand that 'It's over' is coming soon. Like right now... everything you need is taken care of, right? How long do y'all think that's gonna last? It'll be over with soon. What are y'all gonna do next? What's the game plan?"
"Get more money," an off-screen player says.
"How?" Sanders asks. "That's easier said than done. How you do that? Graduate, have a plan. What's the plan?"
"How you going to be pissed at me because I'm holding you accountable for not investing in you? Because I'm forcing you to be a man?"

The above clip is yet another reminder that what people expect to see from Deion based on his reputation as a player is not the Deion they see behind closed doors.
