Winningest head coach in D-II program's history steps down for high school job (division ii)

For over two decades Robert Clardy has been a part of Southwest Baptist (D-II - MO) football.

After four seasons as a player and 18 as a coach with the Bearcats, where he took over in 2015 as interim head coach before being elevated to the full-time role, as a player and 18 as a coach, Clardy is leaving the program to take on a new challenge.

While he's leaving the Bolivar-based college program, he's not going far.

Clardy was announced recently as the new head coach at Bolivar HS (MO).

In just his second season leading his alma mater in 2017, Clardy led Southwest Baptist to their first ever NCAA playoff appearance, earned GLVC Coach of the Year honors, and led a team that broke 13 team records and 15 individual records while putting three players on the All-American team.

Before rising to head coaching spot, Clardy spend seven seasons as an assistant, where he led Bearcat offenses that broke a number of NCAA records and racked up a ton of yards through the air.

This past fall he led the program to a 2-8 finish.

At Bolivar HS, he takes over a program of about 850 kids that finished last season 8-5.
