After yet another great weekend of college football, here's my NFF-FWAA Super 16 ballot for Week 7.
1. Washington: Enough time talking about it. The 36-33 win over then-No. 8 Oregon is more impressive than anything Georgia's done this season. The Huskies are doing their best 2019 LSU impression, and so far it's working.
2. Oklahoma: Thanks to a sluggish performance by Georgia, the Sooners dominated their off week.
3. Florida State: The only thing standing between Florida State and an undefeated regular season is... a visit from Duke this coming Saturday?
4. Ohio State: Ross-Ade Stadium has been a house of horrors for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes handled the Boilermakers 41-7 without a number of skill players.
5. Georgia: Outside the Kentucky game, Georgia's first quarter scoring thus far is 31-31. Against UT Martin, Ball State, South Carolina, UAB, Auburn, and Vanderbilt.
6. Penn State: If we are to exclude the trash 2011 season, Penn State has not won in the Horseshoe since 2008. With effectively two straight off weeks -- an actual off week last week, then UMass on Saturday -- the Nittany Lions should come in ultra-prepared to do something they haven't in 15 years.
7. Texas: Texas was off this week.
8. Oregon: Setting the two other decisions aside, I completely support Dan Lanning going for it on 4th-and-3. If you have the chance to win the game with one play, you take that chance. In the words of a former Pac-12 head coach, You play.. to win... the game.
9. North Carolina: The Tar Heels handled a rock solid Miami team in a 41-31 decision that wasn't as close as the final score. Getting Tez Walker eligible (6 catches, 132 yards, three touchdowns) is a season-changing addition for the Tar Heels.
10. Michigan: Play somebody.
11. Alabama: A ho-hum 24-21 win over Arkansas, Alabama now gears up to avenge its two losses from last season -- Tennessee and LSU, both at home.
12. Notre Dame: Man, that had to feel good. That 48-20 win over USC was: A) the second-fewest points USC has scored under Lincoln Riley, B) ND's largest margin of victory over USC since 2017, and C) the second-worst beating Riley has ever taken as a head coach.
13. Oregon State: UCLA came to Corvallis with a top 5 defense by the numbers, and left with their worst scoring, total yardage, and per-play output of the season.
14. Duke: Without QB1 Riley Leonard, Duke completed four passes and won by three touchdowns. Enjoy Mike Elko while you can, Blue Devils.
15. Utah: Think the Utes didn't see that USC performance and start licking their chops for a third straight chance to beat the Trojans?
16. Ole Miss: I'm always skeptical of the "1-loss SEC team whose best win is a loss to Alabama," but I'm not ready to put anyone else in this spot, either.
