Oklahoma announced today that the program and Ted Roof are parting ways.
Roof, who is 60 years old, also coached the Sooners linebackers.
The veteran defensive coordinator joined Brent Venables staff in December of 2021.
The Sooners finished the season 48th nationally in scoring offense allowing nearly 24 points per game throughout their 10-3 season.
Their losses from this past fall included a 33-38 game to Kansas, a 27-24 decision to Oklahoma State and a 38-24 loss to Arizona in their bowl game.
With 35 years of college coaching experience, Roof has coordinated defenses at 10 stops across college football including UMass, Western Carolina, Georgia Tech (twice), Duke, Minnesota, Auburn, UCF, Penn State, NC State, Appalachian State, and Vanderbilt.
Roof also had a five-year run as the head coach Duke from 2003-07, where he went 6-45 and 3-33 in ACC play.
The move becomes the 37th defensive coordinator opening in major college football so far this off season. Keep track of all the defensive coordinator movement via this page.
