With SEC foe Auburn with an open head coaching seat, and surely noticing the job Lane Kiffin has done at Ole Miss, the Rebels are making their move to keep him in Oxford.
SportsTalk Mississippi shared that Kiffin has a received a new contract offer from Ole Miss.
The report adds that the new offer would make him one of the ten highest paid coaches in college football.
Lane, who currently ranks 11th in FBS head coaching compensation, would only need a pay bump of about $300k to push him into the top ten nationally in coaches pay.
There has been a lot of talk the past few days about the impressive NIL collective that Auburn is putting together, and how that could be a very real bargaining chip in their attempt to bring Kiffin to The Plains.
The Rebels and Lane end their season with a trip to Arkansas this week before welcoming Mike Leach and Mississippi State to town for the Egg Bowl in the season finale.
Now the question becomes is the new contract attractive enough to keep Lane in Oxford, or is Auburn going to come to the table with something that will blow it out of the water?
