Olivet announces a head coaching change (Dan Musielewicz)

Olivet, a Division III program in Michigan, has announced a change in leadership.

After eight seasons with the Comets, head caoch Dan Musielewicz has been let go.

Before rising to the head coaching post, Musielewicz served as offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for five seasons.

He was elevated to the head coaching position in 2017 after former head coach Dan Pfiefer led the team to back-to-back Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles.

Musielewicz leaves the program with a record of 39-35, and 21-28 record in MIAA play..

The Comets went 3-7 this fall.

Defensive coordinator / inside linebackers coach Warren Maloney has been named interim head coach.

In the school's release they share that the University will immediately start a national search for a new head coach.

As that search is set to begin, it's worth noting that two MIAA conference foes - Hope and Alma - both hired successful high school coaches to lead their programs. Hope just finished 10-0 for the first time in program history under former East Grand Rapids (MI) head coach and Flying Dutch alumnus Peter Stuursma and Alma also has an alumnus in Jason Couch leading the program to unprecedented heights with 2 MIAA titles and a trip to the Division III quarterfinals last season.

Whether Olivet looks to take that same route in their search remains to be seen.
