Oregon State reportedly loses defensive assistant days before start of spring ball (Anthony Perkins)

Trent Bray is preparing for his first set of spring practices as a head coach leading his alma mater at Oregon State.

With spring practices set to begin on Tuesday in Corvallis, Bray will also be working to fill a new opening on his staff.

Anthony Perkins, who coached the corners for the program the past two seasons, is reportedly leaving for an assistant defensive backs position with the Green Bay Packer according to 247.

Before joining the Oregon State staff, Perkins spent three seasons at Colorado State and also spent time in the NFL as an assistant to the head coach with the Bucs in 2017-18.

New Beavers defensive coordinator Keith Heyward was slated as the team's secondary coach, so it's logical that he steps in to handle the entire defensive backfield until Bray finds a 10th assistant coach.

His addition to the Green Bay staff continues a trend of college defensive coaches joining the Packers staff, with former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley now leading the defensive side of the ball as well as a few other key additions.
