Watching the Pac-12 dissolve to just Oregon State and Washington State led to Jonathan Smith leaving his alma mater for the Big Ten at Michigan State.
Oregon State turned to another former standout to lead the program into the uncharted waters without a true conference for the forseeable future by elevating defensive coordinator Trent Bray to head coach.
