Photos: Graphic designer reimagines NBA logos as football helmets (helmets)

Prepare yourself for the ravings of a lunatic:

The entire professional sports system in America is a scheme to separate you from your money. There's no reason Detroit's sports teams need to be split into the Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers while the University of Alabama's entire athletics department functions perfectly well as the Crimson Tide. No, it's time we do away with nicknames for each team and bring every city under one roof. If Michigan football, basketball, baseball and field hockey can all be the Wolverines, then all Boston teams can be the Red Sox, all San Francisco teams can be the Giants, and so on and so forth.

Plus, wouldn't it be fun to see, for example, the Yankees' famed pinstripes applied to football, basketball and hockey?

With that in mind, let's take a look at these NBA concept helmets mocked up by bored graphic designer James Politi. He, strangely, chose not to use each team's official logo, instead tweaking each look slightly. Still, a number of these look pretty darn cool. Compare these to the concept helmet designs for the NFL and 56 different college football programs we ran back in February.

We've picked out a few of our favorites, but you can see the whole set here.
