Report: Bob Stoops has signed a new contract, keeping him at Oklahoma through 2021 (Featured)

According to multiple reports, Bob Stoops has signed a new contract with the Sooners that will keep him on the Oklahoma sideline through 2021. Stoops' previous contract ran through 2020.

The veteran Oklahoma head coach is due to make $5.55 million during the 2016 season before bonuses and incentives kick in.

Stoops is 55 years old, and has led the Sooners program for the past 18 seasons, compiling an overall record of 179-46 with nine Big 12 Titles in the trophy case. In 2000, Stoops led the Sooners to an appearance in the National Title game, and this past year they lost to Clemson in the Orange Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff.

In 12 of his 19 seasons leading the program, Stoops has led the Sooners to double digit win totals, and in all 19 seasons has led the program to at least seven-wins and a bowl game. That kind of consistency is unparalleled in the coaching profession.

The Sooners return a lot of players at key positions heading into the fall, and should be one of the nation's top teams.

Also worth noting, offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley (our 2015 FootballScoop Offensive Coordinator of the Year) had his $900,000 contract approved by the board of regents, and defensive coordinator Mike Stoops will be in the same ball park. All Sooner assistants have received raises of least $25,000 as well.
