Report: Chip Kelly to return at UCLA (Chip Kelly)

Chip Kelly will remain as UCLA's head coach, according to a report Monday from Bruin Report Online.

Speculation swirled around Westwood in early November, particularly after the Bruins dropped a 17-7 decision to Arizona State on Nov. 11, but the report says a 38-20 defeat of USC on Nov. 18 was enough to buy Kelly a seventh season.

Kelly has struggled to recapture the magic of his Oregon tenure, but the Bruins have become a consistent winner of late. Following seasons of 3-9, 4-8 and 3-4 in 2018, '19 and '20, UCLA went 8-4 with a Holiday Bowl berth in 2021, 9-4 with a No. 21 final ranking in 2022, and now sit at 7-5 this season.

Overall, Kelly is 34-34 at the school and left the Pac-12 at 26-26 in conference play.

The Bruins have a promising quarterback in former 5-star Dante Moore, a true freshman in 2023, and played excellent defense under coordinator D'Anton Lynn.
