According to a tweet from Pete Thamel this morning, Kansas State and head coach Chris Klieman have reached an agreement on a new contract.
Klieman's new deal will be a 6-year deal that goes to 2026 and will average about $4 million annually. His previous deal paid him about $2.8 million annually.
That new salary figure would put him in the top 30 of head coaching pay in college football, in line with what Illinois pays Lovie Smith, and what Virginia Tech pays Justin Fuente.
Thamel adds that if Kansas State wins 6 games and makes a bowl this season Klieman will get another year added to the extension.
Klieman previously led North Dakota State to four national championships and a 69-6 mark, and is in his second year at Kansas State. He is 10-6 overall with two signature wins coming against Oklahoma, one in each of their two meetings so far.
The Wildcats started the season 0-1 with a loss to Arkansas State, but have since rebounded with wins over #3 Oklahoma back on September 26th, and a 31-21 win over Texas Tech this last weekend to improve to 2-1
