Florida and Dan Mullen are hiring former Florida State offensive line coach Greg Frey in an analyst role, according to reports.
The news come via multiple reports, including Josh Newberg of 247.
Frey spent last season at Florida State coaching the offensive line, and has prior stops at Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, and USF.
A 2015 Broyles Award nominee, Frey did a remarkable job with the Hoosiers run game during his six seasons in Bloomington where he also held the titles of assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator / run game coordinator. The year Frey was up for the Broyles, Indiana was just the fourth team in FBS history to produce a 3,500 yard passer, two 1,000 yard rushers, and a 1,000 yard receiver in the same year. Frey then spent one season in Ann Arbor before leaving to join Willie Taggart's inaugural staff.
In mid-February, Taggart announced that the program and Frey had parted ways.
When Frey arrived in Talahassee, he signed a two-year deal, so his departure after just one season means that Mullen is able to bring him on board for a steal-of-a-deal while FSU continues to pay him through his contract while Florida just pays the offset.
The offensive line in Gainesville will be in solid hands with Frey pitching in to help and the Gators getting their day-to-day coaching from Mullen's loyal offensive line coach John Hevesy.
