Gus Malzahn's trend of strong hires continues as he builds his staff at UCF, with the latest coming on the offensive side of the ball.
Hawaii offensive coordinator GJ Kinne is expected to join Malzahn's offensive staff, Adam Rittenberg first shared, and we can confirm.
Kinne started his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at SMU in 2017 before following Chad Morris to Arkansas as an offensive analyst in 2018.
He spent the 2019 season in the NFL with the Eagles working on offensive special projects before joining Todd Graham's staff at Hawaii in 2020 as the team's offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.
Kinne played his college ball at Tulsa under Graham, and in 2010 when he captured C-USA Offensive Player of the Year honors, the offensive coordinator for the Golden Hurricane was Chad Morris. Morris, of course, served as the offensive coordinator for Malzahn last season at Auburn.
Yesterday, we shared that Malzahn has made a strong push to hire Bobby Bentley, who had been set to join Jeff Scott at USF, to his offensive staff with the Knights.
Stay tuned to The Scoop for the latest, as Malzahn's staff continues to fill out.
