Rowan names coordinator of top 10 Division III program new head coach (Susquehanna)

After a process that took about two months, Rowan (D-III - NJ) has decided to fill one of the last open remaining head coaching jobs in college football with an alumnus.

Pat Ruley, who spent the past six seasons at Susquehanna (D-III - PA), is coming back home to his alma mater as the program's new head coach.

He replaces longtime Rowan leader Jay Accorsi, who retired after 22 seasons at the helm, stepping away with the most wins in program history (143).

Ruley played linebacker for Accorsi from 2009-12, earning All-NJAC honors twice and was an All-American his senior season.

As a coach, Ruley's defense has led their respective league in total defense each of the past four seasons. Last season his River Hawks defense led the Landmark Conference in every major defensive category and ranked 7th nationally in total defense

He arrived at Susquehanna in 2017 as the team's defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach and added associate head coach duties last fall and has been an integral part in the program going an impressive 55-11 since joining the staff.

Before Susquehanna, Ruley was part of defensive staffs at Alderson Broaddus (D-II - WV), Muhlenberg (D-III - PA), and Towson (FCS - MD).
