Sam Pittman explains why he shut down his Twitter account (Sam Pittman)

Arkansas has dropped two straight games, and Sam Pittman has had enough... of people's negativity on Twitter (sorry Elon, I'm not calling it X).

Pittman had had enough of people's anonymous comments on his figure and his players' performance, and so he did what many public figures wish they could do and don't for one reason or another -- he deleted his account.

"I do not believe that you can hide behind a phone and address people as personally as people do. I don't think it's fair, I don't think it's right," he said Monday.

"I'm a counselor last week for my punter, for some O-linemen. To me, that's not what it is, for a bunch of people that's hiding to talk about you. Everybody knows I'm fat, everybody knows I've got a big chest. To (make fun of) that, who does that make feel better?

"People say, 'Well you make a lot of money.' That ain't got nothing to do with people bashing you personally. You can talk about my coaching all you want. But attacking me, guys on the team, that's not right. I'll never feel like it's right."

At 2-2 on the season, Arkansas is 9-8 since a breakthrough 2021 season that saw the Razorbacks defeat Texas and Texas A&M in a 3-week span, rise as high as No. 8 in the AP poll, manhandle Penn State in the Outback Bowl, and finish No. 21 in the country.

The further Arkansas gets removed from that season, though, the more it appears like a high point of the Pittman era, rather than a breakthrough. After rising as high as No. 10 last September, Arkansas is 6-8 in its last 14 games and 2-6 in its last eight SEC games.

And so Pittman's eXit may be an indication that his relationship with Razorback nation may be hitting an inflection point, where Arkansas fans are frustrated with the program's backslide into neutral, and Pittman is frustrated with the fans' frustration.

Though he indicated he'll likely bring his account back at the university's behest, the currently Twitter-less Pittman and the Hogs take on Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday (noon ET, SEC Network).
