After one year on the job, Central Florida has extended Scott Frost's contract by one year.
UCF announced Thursday it has extended its second-year head coach's contract through 2021. In arriving from the offensive coordinator job at Oregon in December 2015 Frost signed a 5-year deal that ran through 2020, paying him a $1.7 million salary. The new contract ups his salary to $2 million while providing a slight bump of $50,000 to his assistant coaches.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue building a winning culture and a winning football program at UCF," Frost said in a statement. "Ashley and I feel like we have found a home in Orlando and with the UCF community. I look forward to an extended tenure of creating a football program that matches the vision of university leadership, including President Hitt and Danny White. I thank them for their confidence and bold vision. My staff and I will endeavor to continue making Knight fans proud. Charge On!"
Frost led the Knights from an 0-12 mark to 6-7 in his fist year on the job, making UCF's 2016 squad the eighth club in FBS history to go from winless to a bowl appearance in a 1-season span.
The new salary would bump Frost into a tie with Navy's Ken Niumatalolo for the American's third-highest paid head coach based on 2016 salary figures, according to the USA Today coaching salary database.
