Source: Arkansas Tech lands FCS coordinator as new play caller (North Alabama)

Sources tell FootballScoop that Kevin Wewers is leaving North Alabama to return to his alma mater.

Wewers, who had the offensive coordinator title on former Kansas offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon's staff, is set to become the new offensive play caller at Arkansas Tech, sources share.

He's been a part of the North Alabama (FCS) staff under Brent Dearmon since 2022, and previously worked alongside Dearmon at Bethel (NAIA - TN), Kansas, and Florida Atlantic.

While with Dearmon at Bethel, Wewers got the rare opportunity to serve as a coordinator on both sides of the ball. In 2018, he served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach and helped to assemble on of the top defenses at the NAIA level while helping Dearmon put together the program's first ever undefeated regular season.

The move to Arkansas Tech is not only a return to his alma mater, but also a return to one of his first coaching stops. The Wonder Boys was his first coaching opportunity at the college level, where he , coached the fullbacks and tight ends back in 2013.
