Source: Florida State losing staffer to FCS coordinator opportunity (Gabe Fertitta)

Before joining Mike Norvell's staff in Tallahassee, Gabe Fertitta led Catholic HS (Baton Rouge, LA) for four seasons, leading them to the state title game in each season with two state titles.

Now, we're told that Fertitta is heading back to Louisiana for a role with an FCS program.

Sources share that Fertitta will be the new offensive coordinator at Nicholls State (FCS - LA).

He held a senior offensive analyst role for the Seminoles.

A former high school coach who made deep playoff runs at both Catholic high as well as St. Stanislaus (MS), Fertitta holds an impressive 59-25 record (43-8 at Catholic) during his time as a prep coach.

After leaving Catholic, he spent the 2021 season at Louisville in a quality control role before landing in Tallahassee.

It marks a return to an on-field playcaller role at the college level for Fertitta, who called the offense at Itawamba CC (JC - MS) back in 2010. While there, former Florida State offensive coordinator Alex Atkins served as the program's offensive line coach.

At Nicholls, he joins in staff in transition following the retirement of Tim Rebowe after a decade, and the promotion of defensive coordinator Tim Rybacki, who spent the past ten seasons at Rebowe's side calling the defense.
