Source: One of top Division II coordinators leaving for South Dakota State (virginia union)

This morning, we're told he's doing the same with a top Division II play caller, nabbing the architect of one of the top scoring offenses in the country for a spot on his offensive staff.

After a scoring clip of over 40 points per game, good for 9th nationally, sources tell FootballScoop Virginia Union (D-II) offensive coordinator Luke Bengston is set to make the jump to the FCS level.

Sources share Bengston is joining the South Dakota State staff as their new receivers coach.

The move marks a continued rise for Bengston, who before joining the Virginia Union staff had served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Millikin (D-III - IL), where they set a number of school records.

Bengston, a former two-time All State receiver in high school in Iowa, has also previously coached at Chadron State, Wisconsin-La Crosse (D-III), and Fairmont State.

He also spent time at the FBS level as an offensive quality control coach working with the tight ends at Arkansas while Bret Bielema was leading the Razorbacks and at UConn as a graduate assistant under Paul Pasqualoni and George De Leone.

Bengston joins an impressive staff at SDSU that includes Mike Bangston (OL), Zane Busekist (LBs), Logan McCormick (DL).

Bangston and Bengston on the same side of the ball. What are the chances?
