Brad Wilson has had stops as a successful defensive coordinator at the Division II and FCS levels, and is now preparing for his first full-time opportunity in major college football.
Sources tell FootballScoop that Wilson, who has spent the last several seasons as the defensive coordinator at Indiana State, is expected to join the staff and work with the linebackers.
The Bulls currently list defensive coordinator Todd Orlando as inside linebackers coach, and special teams coordinator Chad Creamer as outside linebackers, but plenty of staffs are getting creative and shifting around duties with the cap of on-field coaches being lifted.
Wilson joined the Sycamores staff in 2017 as defensive coordinator and added the assistant head coach title in 2023.
Before making the jump to FCS coordinator, Wilson served as the defensive coordinator at Wayne State (D-II - MI) from 2012-16.
Wilson and USF head coach Alex Golesh both share roots as graduate assistants in the MAC at the same time, Wilson at Bowling Green and Golesh at Northern Illinois in 2007.
Before and after that time at Bowling Green, Wilson coached at Ashland (D-II - OH), first as a student assistant working with the defensive backs from 2005-06 before returning as secondary coach in 2008 for a few seasons.
At Indiana State, sources share David Elson, who recently joined the staff as safeties coach, will step into the defensive coordinator role.
