Source: Will Healy working to land veteran FBS defensive coordinator (ETSU)

Source tell FootballScoop that Will Healy is working to land an impressive veteran defensive coordinator for his new staff at East Tennessee State.

Healy is working to hire Western Kentucky senior defensive analyst Chad Staggs to run his defense in Johnson City, TN, a source shares.

Before joining the WKU staff, Staggs served as the defensive coordinator at Georgia State.

Prior to that, he was instrumental in leading Coastal Carolina to unprecedented heights. While the creative Chanticleers offense dominated headlines, the defense ranked among the top 20 in a number of key metrics during their 11-1 season in 2020, where they were ranked as high as #9 nationally.

A Broyles Award semifinalist in 2020, Broyles has been a defensive play caller at the Division II, III, and FCS levels in addition to his stops at Georgia State and Coastal Carolina.

He has previous experience as a defensive coordinator at Furman, Charleston Southern, Delta State, and North Greenville.

CBS Sports has shared that Staggs is expected to join the ETSU staff, although source shares with us that nothing is official at this time.
