A nine-win debut season, including a dazzling close to the year, has Pete Lembo with plenty of options to retool his Buffalo staff going forward in 2025.
Now Lembo is poised to add a veteran special teams coordinator and decorated alum into two key assistant coaching roles, FootballScoop has learned.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Lembo is hiring Chris Monfiletto as the Bulls' new special teams coordinator.
Additionally, Lembo plans to tab JJ Johnson as the team's running backs coach.
If the Johnson name seems familiar to the Buffalo program, it should. He's a former standout player and team captain for the Bulls.
Johnson has experience at both Penn and Bucknell.
Monfiletto comes to Buffalo via Wake Forest, where he had served as a top special teams analyst for Dave Clawson.
The Bulls capped their nine-win debut campaign under Lembo with a win against Liberty in the postseason. They were 5-1 at home a year after going just 1-5 at home.
