The annual plundering and rebuilding of Nick Saban's Alabama staff is resulting in another move.
Sources confirm to FootballScoop that Alabama cornerbacks coach Karl Scott has accepted a multi-year deal to coach in the secondary of the Minnesota Vikings. Scott's leap to the NFL was first reported by Matt Zenitz.
Scott had been at Alabama for the past three seasons, helping develop multiple NFL Draft picks including projected 2021 NFL Draft first-rounder Patrick Surtain Jr.
Per sources, Scott wrestled with a decision to either accept the Vikings' two-year deal or reunite with his close friend and mentor, Mike Locksley, with a three-year deal at Maryland.
Scott has previous collegiate coaching stops at Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and Southeastern. He launched his career first as a graduate assistant at Delta State and then at NCAA Division II program Tusculum.
At Minnesota, Scott will replace the departed Daronte Jones. Late last month, Jones was hired by Ed Orgeron to be LSU's defensive coordinator.
